Pune: Recently, the Real Indian Armed Forces Wives (RIAW) planted 51 saplings as part of their effort to protect the environment at Anandvan 6, where the drive was carried out not just to plant trees but to show love and responsibility toward nature.
The drive was led by Sanjana Jog, Deepali Das, Anupama Pradhan, and Mehzabin Saiyed. They were joined by other RIAW members, serving and retired defence officers, and their children as well.
The event was supported by Anandvan Foundation where founder Praveen Kumar Anand, core member Manish Ghule, and treasurer Ramesh were present and praised the army wives for their dedication. Anand appreciating the efforts put in by the RIAW said, "The effort to save the environment matched Anandvan’s mission to increase Pune’s green spaces."
In times when the environment faces many threats, the army wives have chosen to fight quietly for change. Through this we want to send out a strong message, and that is to save the planet which is everyone’s duty, said Saiyed.
