Sangli: In what can be called an extraordinary feat, the people of Sangli have once again reaffirmed their faith in Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Abhijeet Bhosale, electing him as corporator for the third consecutive term.
Winning a hat-trick in municipal politics, where voter moods often shift sharply—Bhosale’s victory shows not just electoral success but sustained public trust built over years of grassroots work.
"Not once or twice, but three times, Sangli’s voters have chosen continuity, signalling confidence in my leadership and accessibility at the ward level."
“Winning three consecutive terms is not a one-time wave. It is a reflection of the trust my people have placed in me and the work I have done for them,” Bhosale told National Bulletin. “This mandate increases my responsibility manifold.”
A familiar face in Sangli’s civic landscape
A corporator with hands-on experience, Bhosale is known for his approachability and consistent presence on the ground. Speaking about the issues he focused on during his earlier tenures, he said, “I was actively involved in addressing civic infrastructure issues, ensuring basic amenities, and resolving ward-level grievances; factors that residents say have played a key role in my repeated victories.”
Javed Inamdar, a resident of Sangli, said Bhosale’s responsiveness sets him apart. “He is visible in the ward, follows up on civic works, and listens to people. That consistency is why many of us trust him,” he said.
A clear mandate
In the latest election, Bhosale secured a comfortable majority, defeating his rivals convincingly. Party workers described the margin as a “certificate of trust” rather than just a political win, underscoring voters’ preference for continuity over change.
Political observers said that repeat mandates at the municipal level are rarely achieved on party affiliation alone and are typically driven by visible work and sustained engagement with residents.
The road ahead
As he begins his third term, expectations from citizens remain high. Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Bhosale said, “Urban issues such as infrastructure development, sanitation, roads, and civic services will remain my top priorities,” adding, “With this third term, I am fully aware that people’s expectations are extremely high. My focus will be on strengthening civic services and handling issues smoothly while preserving the trust voters have shown in me.”
With his hat-trick victory, Bhosale said, “I will now have to face the dual task of delivering on past promises while living up to an even higher bar set by Sangli’s voters,” while signing off.
