New Delhi, July 2, 2024: Today, the NSUI National President, Varun Choudhary, along with representatives from the INDIA Block Student Unions, convened a press conference to address the critical issue of scams and corrupt practices carried out by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the ongoing concerns of NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) students.
The undersigned student organizations have come together to advocate for the following urgent measures:
1. *Ban NTA and Reform the Examination System*: We demand an immediate ban on the NTA and the establishment of a new, transparent, and efficient examination conducting body that prioritizes fairness and trust in the examination process.
2. *Joint Protest and Campaign*: We will organize joint press conferences, protests, and signature campaigns across every state, university, and city to compel the Union Government to act against the NTA and address the issues faced by NEET students by organizing a RE-NEET.
3. *Demand to Initiate Dialogue*: We call upon the Narendra Modi-led Government to initiate discussions with students, student organizations, and policy stakeholders regarding the irregularities in NEET, NET, and other entrance and recruitment exams.
4. *Resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan*: We demand the immediate resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his failure to address the widespread corruption and mismanagement within the NTA and the education system at large.
*Statement from Varun Choudhary, NSUI National President:*
"In light of the pervasive corruption and mismanagement by the National Testing Agency, we can no longer stand by as our students' futures are jeopardized. The recent NEET scams are a glaring example of the NTA's inability to conduct fair and transparent examinations. We, as representatives of students across the nation, demand an immediate ban on NTA and the establishment of a new, trustworthy body to conduct these crucial exams. Our united stance is a testament to our commitment to safeguarding the interests of our students. We will not rest until justice is served and the examination system is reformed to ensure fairness and transparency."
The press conference was attended by leaders of the INDIA Block Student Unions, including Viraaj Devang, National President AISF; Prasanjeet, National General Secretary AISA; Dr. Imran, National President Samajwadi Chhattra Sabha; Mayukh Biswas, National General Secretary SFI; and Akshan Ranjan, Chhattra RJD.
By signing this common resolution, our organizations unite to demand comprehensive reforms in the existing corrupt examination system, the banning of the NTA, and the organization of RE-NEET for the benefit of all students affected by the NEET exam scam.
Tomorrow, a joint protest will be organized by the INDIA Block student unions at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, and across various locations in India.
